Well we made it through the winter and Manitoba is just starting its third wave of COVID. Enough of that.
We have started seeding our crops, and our wheat is almost all in the ground. Our fields are very dry and we need rain. It still is quite cold, but the weather will warm up soon and the trees will be showing their leaves. Our cows are still calving, and the calves are bouncing around like spring is really here. It is such a joy to watch them, and they are very curious about us as well.

We have had a few great aurora shows over the last couple of months. And are hoping for a few more before the nights become very short.
This is usually the time of year that we see STEVE, the newly identified aurora phenomena. I was able to capture STEVE and Aurora Dunes on the night of March 13-14 when we had a spectacular display most of the night.
The top photo on the left is the pink ribbon of STEVE, with the main aurora pushing against it. Top right is of STEVE and the green picket fence aurora that sometimes accompanies it.

This shot is of the Dunes Aurora (the horizontal stripes in the faint green band). The naked eye doesn't see these colours, but it is so amazing to see what the camera will show us.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to watch the incredible night sky near our farm, and happy to share it with you.
